- Take time to think clearly. Do not say anything when you are angry or under the influence of alcohol.
- Always be polite. Do not use legal language or abusive language.
- Do not submit false accusations/allegations. This will be a waste of time for everyone.
- Time is precious. You do not want to spoil your chances of a settlement by behaving irresponsibly.
Stage - 2 Discussion of Settlement Terms
Best Practices
- You should not try to impose your settlement terms on the Get Assistance team or on the opposite party. Allow the mediator to be independent in the process.
- Your objective should be to resolve the dispute at the earliest and move with life.
- Be flexible in your approach to settle the dispute at the earliest.
- Do not place unreasonable terms.
- Be respectful and accommodating to each other.
General Disclaimers
- You approach Get Assistance to act as an independent mediator to try and resolve your dispute amicably and help you move on with life.
- This service is only for matters of civil nature that are normally solved by mediation.
- You understand that the results of these mediation efforts cannot be quoted in a court of law, as it has no legal standing.
- Mediation can only work if both parties are ready to comprise, in order to settle the dispute.
- You understand that the mediation efforts may fail. This can be due to unreasonable settlement terms, lack of interest to settle the dispute, unresponsiveness etc.
- Get Assistance team will conduct the mediation process online only.
- You understand that the Get Assistance team only helps you to arrive at settlement terms. We do not monitor/oversee the implementation of this settlement.
